Monday, 31-08-26

 Evening, everyone.

I didn't follow my plans - I'm taking a while to enjoy the thought of eating again which is annoying.

I found a couple of spanakopitas in the freezer so I had them with some tomatoes and they were nice - I enjoyed them.

Nine swips

Peanut butter with apple slices to dunk.  The peanut butter was PBP, lower fat, and one and a half swips per level tbsp (for powder) so that was three swips.

Later on I had a banana.

From the freezer, one of those 'use up bits and bobs' casserole type thing with a double portion of cheese melted over.
Very nice.

Summary:
healthy extras - just two calciums
twelve swips

B:  fruit

L:  pancakes - not sure whether sweet or savoury yet.

D:  cheesy jacket potato with salad

Groove and the walk.

Sunday, 31-08-26

Evening, everyone.  Everything is still staying pot and my system seems to be pretty much back to normal - a bit bunged up, maybe, but that will sort out.

I had a couple of small apples earlier.

Then breakfast was porridge with yogurt, banana and mixed seeds.
One fibre for the oats and half a healthy fats for the seeds.
Swip free.

For lunch, I made leek and potato soup (swip free) and some cheesy waffles to dunk.  The waffles were lovely but maybe bread would have been better dunking material!
Pretty much half a fibre for the flour, two swips for grated parmesan and one swip for nooch.

This was incredibly filling with the result that I didn't want much for dinner at all.  I ended up having an apple, a banana and a bit of cheese to nibble for one calcium.  I didn't take any photos.

Summary:
One calcium, half an oil/fats and one and a half fibres (I know - you're not really supposed to split a healthy extra between two different types)
Three swips

B:  fruit salad and yogurt

L:  Greek style orzo peppers, side salad

D:  something on toast

No circuits because it's a bank holiday

Saturday, 29-08-26

Evening, everyone.  I'm back, things are settling down now and today's food was planned. Still pretty much BRAT food but everything has stayed put since Friday morning so I'm hopeful.

I went to SW group yesterday morning and found I had lost another three pounds.  Six pounds in two weeks is not healthy or advisable but inevitable, I guess, and I'm seeing it as a bit of a silver lining, even if I regain a bit after eating normally again.

I plan to remain pretty much on BRAT for another day and then, all being well, on Monday, go back to SW planning again and slowly reintroduce the good Mediterranean type stuff I like so much.  Legumes, whole grains, loads of vegetables - all that good stuff.

I'll start with the bread.  I needed to go over to white bread while doing BRAT so I baked a loaf on Thursday and this one today because everything in the freezer is wholewheat flour based.
It looks bigger than it is - it's one of those 400g small loaves - 250g of white flour and 150g water plus yeast, etc. and it was very nice, just without the flavour, texture and filling qualities that a wholegrain loaf has.  I'm planning to go back to my usual on Monday, when I resume SW counting.

Breakfast was some pureed apple and some Greek yogurt with a drizzle of honey.  I checked and honey is good after a tummy upset, having anti-inflammatory properties and supports better gut bacteria.
It's also sweet and makes fruit and yogurt very tasty.

So now we know!

A bit later I had a banana.

The last slice from the first loaf, toasted.  Just plain.
This bread is delicious, but it doesn't fill and satisfy like wholegrain bread does.

Google tells me that white toast is 'gentle on the tum and helps bulk up stool'.  Another bit of 'useful' info!!

One slice instead of two and scrambled egg for lunch.  Much more filling with the egg.

Later on, I had another banana!

At last, some colour. for dinner  As I'm now in danger of going the other way and being bunged up, I spread my wings a bit.  This was chicken, sweet potato, carrot. some basmati rice, tomato (flesh only, I removed the seeds and skin), garlic granules, chicken stock and a tsp of mixed seeds on top.  It was very tasty, SW friendly and pretty Mediterranean.
Time will tell if it was too much, too soon.

OK, so today is BRAT with bells on!

B:  porridge, yogurt and banana

L:  leek and potato soup with bread to dunk

D:  beans and rice - I have cooked beans in the freezer and some of today's dinner left over so it can all go in together with more of the pouch of basmati rice and, maybe, more veg.

Wednesday, 26-08-26

Hi, all.  It seems very silly that, while this bug is around, to be posting every day about what I'm not eating and how I'm not sticking with either SW or Mediterranean food.
I'll be back just as soon and things have settled again.

Tuesday, 25-08=26

Good evening.

I felt very lacking in energy this morning so, before Groove, I had a banana, an apple, babybels and some crackers - a lot more than I would usually have.
One calcium and eight swips

Marmite on toast and beans for lunch.  It was OK.
One fibre.

Later on, I finished off the babybels - another calcium.

The curry from the freezer.  I couldn't manage it all and it gave me indigeation.
I don't think I'm quite over whatever bug I had.

Summary:
one fibre and two calciums
eight swips

I'm really not sure - I have very little interest in food at the moment so I'll see how I feel tomorrow morning.

Monday, 24-08-26

 Evening, everyone.

I decided I needed something before Circuits so I had a couple of bananas.  Then I had an apple afterwards.

This was lunch - in the wrap was cheese, chicken, tomato and onion chutney.

One fibre, one calcium and one and a half swips.

Later on I nibbled one babybel for half a calcium and later on I had another to make a second calcium.

For dinner I use the leftover steak, thinly sliced.  I softened some sliced mushroom, added the steak, sweetcorn and peas, garlic granules and a bit of stock.  I stirred in grain mustard and then some Greek yogurt (taking it off the simmer first).  It was really nice with some wholegrain rice for one swip.
I was absolutely stuffed!!!

Summary:
Healthy extras: two Cs and one F, no O/F
One and a half swips

B:  fruit

L:  beans on toast

D:  something from the freezer (edit:  chicken and lentil traybake curry, a SWK second portion)

Groove and the walk there and back.

Friday, 21-08-26

Hi, everyone.

It was nice to find I had lost three pounds at group this morning but, as I said, it's not a 'real' loss due to the bug/not eating much/etc, but it's OK, I'll take it!
Things started feeling a bit 'dodgy' for a while so I have resorted to crackers and banana again.  As a result, just one photos of breakfast, a very bad and over exposed photo but never mind!

Half a fibre extra for the pancakes and the rest is free food.
Again, SW counts have gone by the board for the rest of today but not to worry.

Assuming things behave overnight, I will be off to Southwold for the day tomorrow.
I will take crackers, babybels and fruit and, all being well, have fish and chips later on.

So another day off plan but I'll be straight back on it again on Sunday.

Seeing as I won't be posting tomorrow evening, my Sunday plans (subject to changes) are:

B:  egg on toast

L:  chicken salad

D:  jacket potato and salad

fruit

Thursday, 20-08-26

Good evening, everyone.

Today was a 'little and often' day.

It started off with an apple.

Then I had egg on toast.  Half a fibre healthy extra.

Later on I enjoyed an extremely juicy nectarine!

Lunch was the soup I made yesterday but didn't have - tomato and lentil.  I added the leftovers of the white rice I had and, while I wouldn't normally add rice to a soup like that, it went down and stayed there so that was good.

Through the afternoon, I nibbled on plain crackers and I had a banana.

Lazy me - I was very tired and couldn't be bothered with cooking and mashing so I just had the fish, lightly baked with lemon juice in the air fryer.  Plain but I liked it.

I didn't bother with SW values after breakfast - that wasn't the focus yesterday.
Pretty much everything stayed in so that was good!

B:  I'm going to try sourdough pancakes with some fruit and a bit of yogurt

L:  the other half of the soup

D:  something on toast or, maybe, something from the freezer - I have several leftover or second portion meals and this week's focus of using some up hasn't happened.

Wednesday, 19-08-26

Evening, everyone.
The meals look so boring but everything stayed put so that's a win, for sure.

Porridge made with water plus honey.

One fibre healthy extra and one and a half swips for the honey.

Very bland.
Chicken baked in the air fryer and boiled basmati rice.

Swip free

I made soup with tomatoes, white beans, onion and stock.  My appetite said 'yummy' but my innards howled 'No-o-o-o-o' - so I didn't!
I can have it tomorrow.

Summary:
one fibre healthy extra
one and a half swips.

Definitely not SW but needs must.

B:  maybe toast

L:  I'm really hoping to meet a friend at Hyde Hall and I'll see how I feel.

D:  I have that soup and some left over rice so that should work.

Lindsey has told me to R&R so no PT tomorrow.  I'm thankful - I am very lacking in energy (unsurprisingly)

Tuesday, 18-08-26

Good evening.  Not a great day, food still isn't staying put.

What I ate:

Two small slices of toast (sourdough which doesn't brown as there's no sugar in it) and two eggs scrambled.

Lunch was just an apple.

Dinner was some pasta, white beans and grated parmesan.  Bland but that was the idea.

No plans for tomorrow except maybe some plain boiled white rice?  Hopefully that will settle things.

Monday, 17-08-26

Sorry, everyone, I have been attacked by a vicious tummy bug and have eaten precious little all day.  I have no plans for tomorrow apart from taking things as they come (or go!!).
I'll be back properly as soon as I can!  xx

Sunday, 16-08-26

Good evening, everyone.
I've changed the plans a bit.  When I looked in the freezer . . .
a)  there's a lot of leftovers, second portions, etc to use up
b)  I need more room for tomatoes!!

So the next days will feature using stuff up a bit.  And tomatoes!!

Breakfast was lovely.  I toasted some of my home made wholemeal bread, mashed some avocado with lime juice, avocado topping, salt and pepper and a pinch of chilli flakes and served that with
some tomatoes I cooked with just seasonings, no oil.

One fibre choice, one oil choice and one oil swip (the avo weight a bit more).

It was so good.  xx

Lunch was a planning change.
You may remember that one of the meal in my last Slimming World Kitchen box was sweet and sour chicken noodles.  It was nice but rather bland in both taste and appearance.  It was a two portion meal and I was able to freeze the leftovers into three smallish portions.

I had one not long afterwards and this morning I got out the remaining two, gave it a bit more taste ooomph with half a tbsp honey and some rice vinegar and a bit more colour impact with some frozen peas.
It was very nice and very satisfying.
Three oil swips and one and a half swips for the honey.

Dessert was a nectarine and some grapes.

Another change of plan.  I just didn't and two swips for salad cream that I added after taking the photo. fancy a hot dinner so I had a big old salad with the beef (salt beef, not roast beef) instead.
One and a half swips for the (hm) chutney.
Afters was the rest of the apple that I didn't chop and add to the salad.

Summary:
Healthy extras:  one fibre and almost two oils/fats
Five swips

(which will probably change)

B:  scrambled egg on toast

L:  chicken and avocado with tomato and onion salad and other salad veg

D:  small pasta with a mostly-made-with-tomatoes sauce; chicken, mushroom, leek and potato bake - I think those not-to-be-chipped potatoes might work really well with this.

Saturday, 15-08-26

Good evening, all.  Sorry about yesterday - the heat got to me (as it did to many) and I felt quite unwell so didn't do much at all and certainly didn't eat properly or take photos.  I've tried hard to eat properly today.

Overnight oats for breakfast using frozen blackberries, raspberries and the last of last years frozen blueberries.
One fibre choice and one swip for a splash of milk (or maybe a bit of a calcium choice)

Lunch started with a simple salad (half a swip for dressing)

And continued with a stuffed omelette.
Swip free.

The steak doesn't loom great but it was nice.  The chips, on the other hand, were not!  I always get Maris Pipers but this time I tried a different kind and - never again.

One healthy oil and the rest was swip free.

In a little while, I will have some cheese for my calcium choice.

Summary:
healthy extras:  one of each
one and a half swips

B:  fruit and yogurt

L:  avocado on toast, salad

D:  roast beef dinner (using beef from the deli counter)

Good evening, all.   No breakfast - I wasn't hungry! I met Alex in town and we ended up going to Zizzi where I had a chicken Caesar sala...
